La genética y los bosques del futuro
El principal articulo de este nmero de Unasylva, que es del Profesor Gene Namkoong, se basa en la ponencia que present a los debates sobre recursos genticos en el Noveno Congreso Forestal Mundial, celebrado en Mxico, D.F., en julio de 1985. Considerando problemas de naturaleza tanto tcnica como tica, el Dr. Namkoong esboza varias estrategias alternativas para la ordenacin de los recursos genticos de las plantas leosas y examina su aplicacin a una serie de condiciones socioeconmicas, niveles de tecnologa y objetivos biolgicos.
Número especial: la administración forestal al servicio del desarrollo
A fin de recoger nuevas ideas relativas al tema del respaldo institucional a la aplicacin de la poltica forestal, se celebr una Consulta de Expertos sobre Administracin Forestal para el Desarrollo patrocinada por la FAO y la Oficina Central Sueca para la Ayuda Internacional (SIDA) en la sede de la FAO, en Roma, del 2 al 11 de febrero de 1983. Asistieron a titulo personal veintinueve expertos de una amplia gama de disciplinas provenientes de 24 pases de Africa, Asia, Europa, Amrica Latina y Amrica del Norte. Este nmero de Unasylva presenta una seleccin de los documentos debatidos.
IPTRID Report: July 2003-December 2004
The International Programme for Technology and Research in Irrigation and Drainage (IPTRID) is an international independent multi-donor trust fund programme created in 1990 and first located at the World Bank. Since 1998, it has been hosted by FAO as a Special Programme. IPTRID aims to assist developing countries and countries in transition in building capacity for sustainable agricultural water management to reduce poverty and enhance food security, while conserving the environment.
