Land Conservation Act, 1960 (Act No. 3 of 1960).

This Act aims at the conservation of hill lands, the prevention of soil erosion, and the control of siltation.The Ruler in Council or the Yang di-Pertuan in Council of a State may declare any area to be hill land for the purposes of this Act. Such an area shall be registered and various activities within hill land, including the cultivation of short term crops, are prohibited or restricted.

These Bye-laws of the City Council of Gaborone place restrictions on excavation on public land. Excavation for the purpose of removing soil, sand, gravel or any vegetation or for the purpose of any private construction or drainage or for any other purpose requires written permission of the Council.

Sewage Sludge – Soil Protection Ordinance.

The present Ordinance implements articles 10 and 11 of the Soil Protection Law (LGBl. 80/2001). The purpose of the Ordinance is to regulate the use of sewage sludge in agriculture in such a way as to prevent harmful effects on s oil, vegetation, animals and man, thereby encouraging the correct use of such sewage sludge.

Burgenland Soil Protection Law.

An Act by the regional government of Burgenland on the protection of soil from harmful substances. In order to avoid harmful effects on human beings, animals and plants the aims of the said Act are as follows: the conservation and protection of soils and its functions, the improvement and restoration of the functions of soils and the prevention of soil erosion and soil compaction in general.

Le présent décret porte création de l'institut national des sols, de l'irrigation et du drainage (I.N.S.I.D.), chargé de procéder à l'inventaire des ressources en terres agricoles et mettre en oeuvre un programme d'actions d'aménagement en vue de leur mise en valeur et préservation.

The present Law lays down provisions relating to the use of sewage sludge. Tyrol Agricultural Land Protection Law 2000.

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the protection of agricultural land and the use of sewerage sludge. Article 2 lists cases of violations against the present Law, such as, for example, passing by car or horse on agricultural land, conducting cattle on agricultural land for grazing purposes, destroying of fences, street signs, etc. The text consists of 13 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: Protection of agricultural land (1); Transformation of agricultural land in forestry land (2); Sewage sludge (3); Common provisions (4).

The purpose of the present Act is the economic and expedient use of the soil; the protection and care of the environment and , in particular the conservation or reinstatement of the sustainable purity of the air, water and soil, as well as the avoidance of noise; the conservation or reinstatement of a healthy nature, the protection of the indigenous fauna and flora and their natural living spaces, of the cultural heritage and, finally, in particular that of housing and recreational areas.

The purpose of the present Law is to conserve and protect the soil against harmful effects, in particular against erosion, densification of the soil and hazardous substances, and to improve and restore the health of the soil. To reach this aim everyone shall behave in such a way as to reduce damage to the soil to the unavoidable minimum – in particular accumulation of hazardous substances in the soil and deterioration of the soil structure – in view of ensuring an effective soil protection.
