Issues of abandoned lands in Lithuania (following the example of Raseiniai district, Sujainiai cadastral area)

The media frequently refers to the concept of abandoned land. The reasons for its occurrence are discussed and the ways to diminish the problem are being searched for. Various sources of information were used for the research. They enabled the authors to identify the concept of abandoned lands. In addition, the situation of abandoned lands was analysed and causes of occurrence of such lands in one cadastral area of mid-Lithuania municipality were defined.

One of the most suitable places for black alder is flood-lands, where a rise of a water level causes stand flooding few times a year. Often alder stands don’t exist in long-term, because their natural self-renewal is embarrassed. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the current stand structure and its further development. Described parameters were structure of both stand and vegetation and various abiotic factors (soil properties, hydrology).

Land information system (LIS) is a convenient tool in the legal, administrative and economic decision-making process. The data of LIS includes: cartographic basis of spatial land datasets, thematic spatial land datasets and a variety of important information from the cadastre, registers and information systems. Lithuanian Land Information System is a developed and expanding field of information technology, which could be more used by the public users of Lithuania and other countries.

The possibilities of grain production in Latvia and economic conditions to reach them

In this research the potential of grain production increase in Latvia is analysed. The land use analysis show that even in some nearest years it is possible to increase grain production by 400-500 thousand tons compared by 2010 level, but in 10 years period – by 1 million tons or more. This is due to increase both areas and yield. It is assessed during of the research that price above 90 Lats/t for wheat and above 80 Lats/t for barley, rye and oats stimulates grain production. Also some additional state regulation measures are recommended in the research.

Application of foreign experience for improvement of land relations in agriculture of Ukraine

The main peculiarities of land relations abroad are highlighted in the article. Basic principles of foreign experience of land use regarding market circulation of land, concentration of major land resources by right of ownership as well as the process and ways of reformation of land relations are generalized and systematized. Some peculiarities of lease relations, collection of rents and restrictions on title to land for foreigners are analysed. Some positive aspects are distinguished in order to use them in Ukraine.

Conditions and prospects of utilization of land belonging to reclaimed fund of Lviv region under conditions of land relations’ reforming

In the Western region of Ukraine, melioration is both of economic and social importance. The area of reclaimed lands constitutes 2.2 million ha or 24 % of the total agricultural lands in the region. Thus, melioration is of great importance for social-economic development of agro-industrial complex of the territory. Under conditions of the land reform in Ukraine, reclaimed lands were subjected to sharing and privatization causing a negative impact on efficiency of its utilization and technical conditions of the reclaimed land infrastructure.

In Ukraine, degradation of land resources is a complex ecological problem, preventing sustainable development of land employment. Land protection from degradation requires development of measures in the process of land management at regional and local levels. Efficiency of the measures depends considerably on reliable information about quantitative and qualitative conditions of lands, due to the fact that it forces timeliness of the research. The aim of the research is to study problems of land degradation in terms of land management while developing measures of land resource protection.

Biophysical scientists in particular struggle with how to integrate “gendered” water uses into models that are necessarily based on prevailing laws and equations that describe the movement of water through the hydrological cycle, independent of social constructs.

Agricultural land is one of the most valuable natural resources which can be found in Latvia, since agricultural land has long time served as an important resource of economic activity and food production. Efficient use of this valuable resource depends not only on technologies and knowledge at disposal of farmers but also on regulations concerning the real estate market and taxation of the real estate. Recent changes of the real estate market regulation as concerns agricultural land are analysed in this paper to identify a possible influence on the use of agricultural land.
