Benson Owuor Ochieng is the Executive Director of the Institute for Law and Environmental Governance (ILEG). He is a lawyer specializing in sustainable development law. He also teaches environmental governance at the University of Nairobi’s Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP).
Mr. Ochieng has served as legal and policy advisor to several governments on a wide range of sustainable development policy issues and processes, such as negotiations of multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) and the development of climate change response strategies and action plans. He has also led the development, implementation and review of various national, regional and international sustainable development and climate projects and programmes.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from the University of Nairobi (UoN), a Post-graduate Diploma in Law (Dip.Law) from the Kenya School of Law (KSL), and a Certificate in Environmental Democracy from the University of Wolverhampton (UK). He has served as a member of various national and international task-forces, committees and boards on a wide range of sustainable development issues. He is a Member of the Board of the Climate Justice Fund.
