Journal of Gender, Agriculture and Food Security

The Journal of Gender, Agriculture and Food Security (Agri-Gender) is an international, open access, peer-reviewed and refereed journal published by the Africa Centre for Gender, Social Research and Impact Assessment. The main objective of Agri-Gender is to provide an intellectual platform for international scholars to publish their research work on gender, agriculture and food security.

The aim of Agri-Gender is to promote interdisciplinary research related to gender and the agricultural and food sciences.

The journal publishes research papers in the fields of agriculture including livestock, fisheries, crop sciences, agriculture economics, rural development, food security and nutrition as they relate to gender.

The journal also publishes papers on issues of women's empowerment, feminist and gender studies. It seeks to promote debate, identify best practices and new ideas and make the links between theoretical and practical gender and agriculture work. Insights from development initiatives across the world that have implications for policy and practice are especially welcome.

Agri-Gender publishes original empirical papers, review papers, conceptual papers, case studies, technical notes, and book reviews. Special Issues devoted to important topics in gender, agriculture and food security will occasionally be published.

The papers will be reviewed for analytical and methodological rigour in the areas of gender and agriculture (for example papers should go beyond traditional gender indicators such as the sex of the household head-comparing male and female headed households in itself does not consitute an extensive gender analysis, unless further disaggregation, or additional nuances underlying the phenomenon of headship are considered), conceptual soundness, innovativeness and value added to current knowledge in gender, agriculture and food security.

The journal is published online two times a year.
