This factsheet gives answers on how climate exacerbates root causes of conflict in Senegal, using an impact pathway analysis. Two main impact pathways are identified: 1) Livelihood and food insecurity in Matam and Tambacounda; 2) Fish scarcity, livelihood insecurity and recruitment by NSAGs.

On May 12 in Abuja, Nigeria, two CGIAR initiatives – Fragility, Conflict, and Migration (FCM) and National Policies and Strategies (NPS) – brought together policymakers, researchers, and representatives from the private sector and civil society to discuss how to advance food systems resilience amid crises while empowering women and youth, in the context of Nigeria.
The outcomes of climate-related security risks are also a function of how the values of those affected influence how they perceive and interpret that hazard, in addition to a function of the extent to which a society is economically, politically, and technologically prepared to cope with the damaging consequences of a particular hazard.
