The Natural Areas Association is the only national, non-profit membership organization that is dedicated to the support and advancement of the community of natural areas professionals.

Together, we envision a world where science-based conservation is the bedrock of protecting the beauty and wonder of nature.

Our members work to protect and restore natural areas, ecosystems and landscapes, and include natural lands managers, natural resource managers, land trust staff and volunteers, biologists, ecologists, researchers, policy specialists, educators, students, and anyone with an active interest in environmental conservation and natural areas stewardship.

Natural Justice: Lawyers for Communities and the Environment is a non-profit organization, registered in South Africa since 2007.

Our vision is the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity through the self-determination of Indigenous peoples and local communities.

Our mission is to facilitate the full and effective participation of Indigenous peoples and local communities in the development and implementation of laws and policies that relate to the conservation and customary uses of biodiversity and the protection of associated cultural heritage.

Natural Justice work at the local, national, regional, and international levels with a wide range of partners. We strive to ensure that community rights and responsibilities are represented and respected at the broader scales and that gains made in international fora are fully upheld at lower levels.

The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is an independent nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving countries' governance over their natural resources (in particular oil, gas and minerals) to promote sustainable and inclusive development.

The Natural Resource Governance Institute was established through the merger of the Revenue Watch Institute and the Natural Resource Charter in 2013.

ODI Natural Resource Perspectives present accessible information on current development issues and are sent to a wide audience of policy makers, researchers and people working in the non-governmental sector. The series ran from 1994 to 2008.

John Farrington, Editor of the NRP series, writes "Unfortunately, Sida support to the series has come to an end, and though they are happy with the series, their funding priorities have changed and enquiries have established that the series can no longer be included in their portfolio.

It has been a privilege, and a very enjoyable one, to edit the series since it began some 14 years ago, and we hope the existing NRPs will continue to be a valuable resource to you."

Natural Resources Wales is the largest Welsh Government Sponsored Body - employing 1,900 staff across Wales with a budget of £180 million. We were formed in April 2013, largely taking over the functions of the Countryside Council for Wales, Forestry Commission Wales and the Environment Agency in Wales, as well as certain Welsh Government functions.

We receive a Remit Letter at the start of each financial year setting out what the Welsh Government wants us to achieve during that year.

Our roles and responsibilities

• Adviser: principal adviser to Welsh Government, and adviser to industry and the wider public and voluntary sector, and communicator about issues relating to the environment and its natural resources
• Regulator: protecting people and the environment including marine, forest and waste industries, and prosecuting those who breach the regulations that we are responsible for
• Designator: for Sites of Special Scientific Interest – areas of particular value for their wildlife or geology, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), and National Parks, as well as declaring National Nature Reserves
• Responder: to some 9,000 reported environmental incidents a year as a Category 1 emergency responder
• Statutory consultee: to some 9,000 planning applications a year
• Manager/Operator: managing seven per cent of Wales’ land area including woodlands, National Nature Reserves, water and flood defences, and operating our visitor centres, recreation facilities, hatcheries and a laboratory
• Partner, Educator and Enabler: key collaborator with the public, private and voluntary sectors, providing grant aid, and helping a wide range of people use the environment as a learning resource; acting as a catalyst for others’ work
• Evidence gatherer: monitoring our environment, commissioning and undertaking research, developing our knowledge, and being a public records body
• Employer: of almost 1,900 staff, as well as supporting other employment through contract work

Ndifuna Ukwazi is an activist organisation and law centre that promotes the realisation of Constitutional Rights and Social Justice – through legal, research and organising support to working class people, communities and social movements. The organistion works to advance urban land justice – that is the protection and promotion of access to affordable, well located housing in Cape Town; building inclusive and sustainable mixed use and mixed income communities; and supporting tenant rights and security of tenure in both private and public housing. Ndifuna Ukwazi also specialises in community based social auditing of service delivery; access to information and procurement monitoring at the local government level; budget analysis and advocacy; and activist education.

NeBIO- an International journal of Environment and Biodiversity, a peer review quarterly official journal of North East Centre for Environmental Education and Research (NECEER), Imphal, Manipur. NECEER is a non-profit public interest research and educational organisation was established on 9^th December, 2007 with an aim to educate and create awareness about the changing environment and conservation of biodiversity in North-eastern states of India through non formal education by organising training programme, workshops, campaigns, seminars, etc. Its Research and Development Division has been involved in the exploration of the floral and faunal diversity of the region and framing of conservation strategies with the help of local communities for the conservation of biodiversity. NeBIO publishes original research, short communication, general and review articles on biodiversity and environment. The journal encouraged research works and also bridge the gap between various forms of methodologies perspectives and knowledge production. 

The Nepalese Journal of Geoinformatics is published annually. It is presently inactive.

Network for Environment and Economic Development (NEED) educates, trains and empowers the next generation of Burmese civil society leaders in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and community-based economic development in order to protect the livelihood, interests, and human rights of all Burmese people. NEED-Burma provides an experiential and multi-ethnic learning environment for motivated Burmese youth to learn alternative and traditional agriculture techniques.

Through the motivation and education of social change-makers within Burmese civil society, so that they may engage in sustainable development by putting critical thinking and theory into practice. Through the exploration of alternative development paths that takes into consideration the diverse ethnicities, religions, local knowledge and cultures of Burma.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is the living, national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. It is a nonpartisan institution, supported by public and private funds, engaged in the study of national and world affairs.

The legal data collected for Nicholas Tagliarino's dissertation and posted on Land Book examines whether national expropriation, compensation, and resettlement laws in developing countries are adopting international standards designed to secure tenure rights and ensure responsible land governance. The analysis conducted for this dataset is based on Section 16 of the UN Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure, which establishes standards on expropriation, compensation, and resettlement. The data published on Land Portal will be analyzed in a series of forthcoming papers, which together make up his dissertation. Nicholas joined the Land Portal in September 2016 as a Research Analyst. Currently, he is also pursuing a PhD at the University of Groningen Faculty of Law (the Netherlands).

What is NKV?

The Nordic Board for Wildlife Research (NKV) was established in 1971 after recommendation from the Nordic Council of Ministers in 1968.

The purpose of NKV is to promote wildlife research within the Nordic region, with particular emphasis on the continuous improvement of research quality and quantity, and the dissemination of knowledge both within the scientific and general communities.

The NKV will work to do this by:

Sustaining and publishing the international scientific journal “Wildlife Biology”,
Initiating and supporting Nordic Congresses of Wildlife Research at regular intervals of 4 years,
Supporting workshops, symposia etc. on relevant wildlife topics, and
Supporting students and researchers with respect to costs of travels that furthers Nordic cooperation.

Norwegian Latin America Research Network (NorLARNet) is an inter-disciplinary network of institutions and individuals involved in research related to Latin America. It is meant to provide researchers and experts from all over Norway with an arena for interaction and cooperation, and to be a main point of access for all in search of academic knowledge about Latin America in Norway.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to some of the world’s 42 million refugees and internally displaced persons.

With humanitarian assistance programmes in 20 countries, NRC assists people to claim their rights, access available remedies, and recover from the effects of abuse and violations. NRC’s Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) supports beneficiaries in claiming and exercising their rights. ICLA provides information, counselling, legal assistance, collaborative dispute resolution, capacity- building and advocacy activities. An increasingly important area of NRC’s legal aid work supports displaced women as they seek to enforce their housing, land and property (HLP) rights.

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Norwegian: Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet, NMBU) is a public university located in Ås, Norway. It is located at Ås in Viken, near Oslo, and at Adamstuen in Oslo.

Established in 1859 as the Norwegian Agricultural Postgraduate College, it became a university-level university college (vitenskapelig høgskole) in 1897 and received university status in 2005. Prior to 2005 it was known as the Norwegian College of Agriculture (Norges landbrukshøgskole, NLH).
