Land management is a multi-dimensional and multi-institutional engagement that demands collective analysis, design, and implementation of innovations. Its importance for Ethiopia cannot be overemphasized, as land degradation threatens food security and environmental sustainability.

This paper applies the principles of water-use accounts, to the Karkheh River basin in Iran.

The northern part of the Basin where the Karkheh and its tributaries rise is mountainous, cooler, and wetter. The River spills out on to the hotter, lower semi-arid plains at its southern end. Precipitation, mainly in winter, varies from 400-500 mm in the upper part of the Basin falling to about 230 mm in the lower reaches.

This study uses publicly available financial and spatial data to examine the geography of land-intensive investment in Southeast Asia, and to identify the
limits imposed by problems with data availability. It focuses on three regions where land has been widely seen to be available for new investment: Indonesia’s outer islands; the “development triangle” where Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam meet; and the Golden Quadrangle region which comprises the borderlands of northeastern Myanmar, northwestern Laos, southern and western Yunnan, and northern Thailand.

Abstract: "Political dynamics of the global land grab are exemplified in Cambodia, where at least 27 forced evictions took place in 2009, affecting 23,000 people. Evictions of the rural poor are legitimized by the assumption that non-private land is idle, marginal, or degraded and available for capitalist exploitation. This paper: (1) questions the assumption that land is idle; (2) explores whether land grabs can be regulated through a ‘code of conduct’; and (3) examines peasant resistance to land grabs.

A book documenting stories of people affected by forced evictions in Cambodia. The personal stories show what is lost when a home is destroyed or livelihood disrupted; and how people living in poverty are routinely excluded from decisions affecting them. Case studies include evictions from Boeung Kak Lake, Battambang, Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Pursat and Kampong Chhnang, Phnom Penh, Kratie and Siem Reap.

This study presents a country-wide quantitative analysis of the Parliamentary Land Investigation Commission reports that were released to the public. The aim is not just to analyze the information contained in the reports, but also to elicit information they do not reveal.
