National Academic Research and Collaborations Information System (NARCIS) is the main Dutch national portal for those looking for information about researchers and their work. NARCIS aggregates data from around 30 institutional repositories. Besides researchers, NARCIS is also used by students, journalists and people working in educational and government institutions as well as the business sector.
NARCIS provides access to scientific information, including (open access) publications from the repositories of all the Dutch universities, KNAW, NWO and a number of research institutes, datasets from some data archives as well as descriptions of research projects, researchers and research institutes.
This means that NARCIS cannot be used as an entry point to access complete overviews of publications of researchers (yet). However, there are more institutions that make all their scientific publications accessible via NARCIS. By doing so, it will become possible to create much more complete publication lists of researchers.
In 2004, the development of NARCIS started as a cooperation project of KNAW Research Information, NWO, VSNU and METIS, as part of the development of services within the DARE programme of SURFfoundation. This project resulted in the NARCIS portal, in which the DAREnet service was incorporated in January 2007. NARCIS has been part of DANS since 2011.
DANS - Data Archiving and Networked Services - is the Netherlands Institute for permanent access to digital research resources. DANS encourages researchers to make their digital research data and related outputs Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.

Monitoring land use with geographical databases is widely used in decision-making. This report presents the possibilities, methods and adapted techniques using geo-information in monitoring land use changes. The municipality of Soest was chosen as study area and three national land use databases, viz. Top10Vector, CBS land use statistics and LGN, were used. The restrictions of geo-information for monitoring land use changes are indicated. New methods and adapted techniques improve the monitoring result considerably.

Dit rapport kijkt naar de lange termijn ontwikkelingen - de komende twee decennia - in het agrarisch gebied, met daarbij de ambities van de Stichting Natuur en Milieu in het achterhoofd. Het agrarisch gebied slaat op dat deel van Nederland dat niet verstedelijkt is noch natuurterrein. De volgende vragen worden beantwoord. - Wat mogen we in de diverse gebieden op langere termijn verwachten? - Wat is gezien de doelstellingen van SNM eigenlijk gewenst met betrekking tot het agrarisch gebied? - Welke middelen staan tot onze beschikking om de kloof tussen verwacht en gewenst te overbruggen?

Rijksbufferzones; verleden, heden en toekomst
In de Eerste Nota voor de Ruimtelijke Ordening werd het instellen van bufferstroken of bufferzones tussen stadsagglomeraties in de Randstad aangekondigd met als doel de openheid daartussen te handhaven. Bereikbaarheid van het buitengebied voor recreatie was ook een belangrijk motief. Strategische grondaankopen hoorden erbij. Later groeide het besef in deze bufferzones ook nutsfuncties te realiseren om de kwaliteit te vergroten, zoals bos, natuur, recreatiegebieden en bedrijfsvergroting van landbouwbedrijven met het oog op het landschapsbehoud. Veel gronden werden aangekocht door BBL.
