Law No. 7.750 on Sanitation State Policy.

This Law, composed of 31 articles, rules on Sanitation State Policy, considered as the overall actions, services and work aimed at reaching increasing levels of environmental sanitation through potable water supply, waste collection and disposal, health promotion in land use and land occupation. In particular, the Law institutes the State Sanitation Plan, the State Sanitation System (SESAN), and the State Sanitation Fund (FESAN).

Law No. 7.641 on environmental protection measures of some river basins of São Paulo State.

This Law rules on environmental protection measures to be applied for the following River basins of São Paulo State: Pardo, Moji Guaçu and Médio Grande. Moreover, the Law establishes the guidelines for land use and occupation in the interested areas. The Law indicates the competences and related functions of the Secretary for Environment, the Secretary fro Agriculture, and the secretary for Planning in the implementation of its provisions.

The institutional frame that conditions today the institution and operation of professional laboratories and manufactures in the basin of Attica, it is radically reformed with Law 2965/2001. This Law comes forth to abrogate the Presidential Order No. 84 of 1984 which for more than fifteen years constituted the basic legislative frame for the development of craft-based activity in the region of Attica. With this Law the classification of industrial activities is divided in low, medium and high harmful-effect categories (in compliance with art. 3 and 4 of Law No. 1650/86).

By way of implementation of Directive 96/61/EC, this Legislative Decree aims at the integrated prevention and control of pollution which arises from the activities specified in Annex I. There are established particular measures intended to prevent and reduce emissions into the air, water and land, comprising general principles in matter of waste management. Furthermore, the Legislative Decree regulates the issue and renewal of the environmental integrated authorization which is required for the installations mentioned in Annex I.

The purpose of this Act is to prevent potential danger or injury to public health and environment due to soil contamination and to properly maintain and preserve soil including purifying the contaminated soil to conserve the soil ecosystem, etc. This Act shall not apply to soil contamination caused by radioactive materials.The Minister of Environment shall formulate and enforce a basic plan for soil conservation every 10 years and shall include matters listed in article 4.

Planning and Urban Management Act 2004.

This Act concerns the planning the use, development, management and protection of land in Samoa. One of the declared objectives (sect. 8) of this Act is to provide for the fair, orderly, economic and sustainable use, development and management of land including the protection of natural and man-made resources and the maintenance of ecological processes and genetic diversity. The Planning and Urban Management Agency is established under section 4 and the Planning and Urban Management Board under section 5. The functions of the Board are set out in section 9.
