FAO has been operational in Sierra Leone since 1978. Since then, targeted interventions have greatly helped to improve
food security and agricultural practices in the country. Today, FAO continues to be an important provider of technicalsupport, in collaboration with other UN agencies, NGOs, civil society and rural communities. Current cooperation effortsfocus on eliminating hunger, improving food security and nutrition and achieving sustainable agriculture throughimproved farming methods as well as environmental protection.
