Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Land Use Act or any other enactment, all Laws, and subsidiary legislation made at any time between the commencement of the Land Use Act and 30th September 1979 by any public officer of a State shall be deemed to have been validly made and shall have effect as if they had been made under or pursuant to the Land Use Act and accordingly, shall hereafter continue to have effect according to their tenor and intendment as if they were regulations made under or pursuant to section 46 of that Act.

This Act provides for various maters relative to property acquired and/or held by municipalities, including expropriation of private land, disposal of municipal property, and management and operation of real property. Municipal property shall include the following: forests and agricultural land as defined by law; water sources, including mineral waters, which are used only by the respective municipality, together with the water intaking equipment and the water distribution networks and equipment, and; water basins, together with their adjacent beaches and quarries of local significance.

This Act, consisting of 18 sections divided into three Parts, establishes the functions of the Corporation as follows: to acquire, by agreement or otherwise, to hold and to dispose of real property, including an estate or interest in real property, in accordance with this Act and it may acquire and hold such property notwithstanding any other law in force in the Territory which would restrict or otherwise limit the capacity of the Corporation to acquire and hold it.

The declared (sect. 3) objects of the Act are: ensuring effective and ecologically sustainable management of forest resources; promotion of a sustainable commercial timber industry, and; protection and conservation of forest resources, habitats and ecosystems including the maintenance of ecological processes and genetic diversity. The administration of matters affecting forests is entrusted to Commissioner of Forests appointed under section 6 and the Minister who shall be advised by the Solomon Forestry Board established under section 5.

Cette ordonnance tend à renforcer la protection, la sauvegarde et la conservation du domaine privé national et du domaine public, par l'interdiction, sauf autorisation ou attributions prévues par les textes en vigueur, de tous aménagements, déprédations, dépôts de matériaux, constructions de toutes sortes, fouilles, plantations, exploitations de matériaux du sol et du sous-sol du domaine privé national, du domaine public et des terrains privés en cours d'acquisition par l'Etat.

This Law provides for the leasing of public agricultural and forest land. It consists of 18 articles establishing the procedures for leasing of such lands to citizens and contains rules relative to the lease and the conditions attached to lease including obligations of the lessee.
