No Dia do Trabalhador Rural, 25 de maio, o Grupo de Trabalho de Hortas e Reflorestamento da Rede Favela Sustentável (RFS) apresentou a live interativa: “Comida Sem Veneno: Direito ou Privilégio? Soberania Alimentar na Favela em Tempos de Pandemia”. Os seis palestrantes do evento, todos envolvidos com ativismo e iniciativas em soberania alimentar em favelas ou com movimentos de pequenos agricultores, falaram sobre o impacto da pandemia em favelas e como, por sua vez, isso afeta o acesso a alimentos bons e saudáveis. No total, 110 pessoas participaram do encontro via Zoom, com mais de 1000 pessoas assistindo ao vivo pelo Facebook.
Os convidados especiais foram: Regina Tchelly, fundadora do Favela Orgânica e moradora da Babilônia, Zona Sul; Susana Padrão, nutricionista, presidente do Conselho Nacional de Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional (CONSEA) e colaboradora no espaço comunitário de educação ambiental Espaço Formiga Verde, no Morro da Formiga, Zona Norte; Cristina Flores, membro do Movimento dos Pequenos Agricultores (MPA); Fernanda Savicki, agrônoma e pesquisadora em saúde pública na Fiocruz e vice-presidente da Associação Brasileira de Agroecologia, do Mato Grosso do Sul; Valdirene Militão, educadora e pesquisadora em economia dos setores populares no Campus Fiocruz Mata Atlântica em Jacarepaguá, na Zona Oeste, e originalmente da favela da Maré, Zona Norte; e Luis Cassiano, cuja iniciativa de telhado verde, Teto Verde Favela, diminui dramaticamente o calor em sua casa reunindo mais de cinquenta espécies em seu telhado no Parque Arará, Zona Norte.
