Despite the functioning of tomato production in the financial and nutritional healthy living of most farm families in Ghana, the effects of climate variations on tomato production via the outbreak of tomato pest is generally understudied. Thus, this study aims to explain the effects of climate variation on tomato crops via the outbreak of tomato pests using structural equation modeling (SEM).

Farming systems that support locally diverse agricultural production and high levels of biodiversity are in rapid decline, despite evidence of their benefits for climate, environmental health, and food security. Yet, agricultural policies, financial incentives, and market concentration increasingly constrain the viability of diversified farming systems.

Increased reliance on fertilizers and pesticides in rice production has proven unsustainable and ineffective due to soil depletion and pesticide-induced pest outbreaks, rising fertilizer costs, and the negative effects of pesticide and fertilizer use on human health and the environment.

This report was prepared in response to a request from the Vietnamese government, notably that of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Its aim is to provide information on the carbon market in general, but also specifically as it relates to forestry, with a focus on blue carbon.

Urban space is highly unequal, gendered, and divided. Urban policy and development planning often overlook the issue of food and water security for the most marginalized populations, who are often unregistered and considered as ‘temporary’ residents. In Bangladesh, the rural-urban migration of women is increasingly common.

Lao PDR is undergoing a rapid agrarian transformation, underpinned by a growing commercial production of commodity crops such as cassava by smallholder farmers. The global nature of commodity crop markets increases the exposure of potentially vulnerable smallholder farmers to global price dynamics.

On the 11th of June 2023, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt (MoALR) organized a Multistakeholder Workshop titled “To a Better Partnership for Evidence-based Agrifood Policy Research.” The workshop agenda is provided in Appendix 1.

This presentation forms an integral part of a comprehensive training program designed for senior agricultural staff in Tunisia, focusing on the agroecological initiative. The primary objective is to acquaint participants with the agroecology transition, as exemplified by the OneCGIAR initiative.

The Agripreneur Movement of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) allows youth to assume their rightful place in African agricultural transformation. It started as a single exploratory agribusiness incubation at IITA Headquarters in 2012, involving 37 youths. It has since grown to 10 countries through nine sponsoring organizations.

The Asian Mega-Deltas is one of the CGIAR’s research initiatives which aims to create resilient, inclusive and productive deltas, which maintain socio-ecological integrity, adapt to climatic and other stressors, and support human prosperity and wellbeing, by removing systemic barriers to the scaling of transformative technologies and practices at community, national and regional levels.

Understanding the human-forest relationship is key to sustainable development and forest management. The increase of agricultural land expansion mainly focuses on satisfying the competing interest amongst stakeholders and rural households, which neglects the impact of forest losses.
