Currently Special Master Labour Tenants in the Land Claims Court, South Africa. 20 years' experience as a public administrator, mainly at the level of Director General in the Public Administration portfolio. Ten years' experience as an academic in the Sociology Department, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Two land focused books, one on land and power in Swaziland (Wits Press), the other on Struggles for Land in Mpumalanga, South Africa (Africa World Press), both published in 1997. Numerous refereed Journal articles. Current appointment arose out of a Constitutional Court Judgement on the "Mwelase case", that placed the Labour Tenant land reform programme under the supervisory jurisdiction of the Land Claims Court through the Court's Agent, the Special Master.
