Government of the Republic of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos Respublikos Vyriausybė) is the cabinet of Lithuania, exercising executive power in the country. Among other responsibilities, it executes laws and resolutions of the parliament, the Seimas, and the decrees of the President, manages state property and, together with the President, executes the foreign policy of the country. The Government also has the right of legislative initiative, puts together the state budget and presents it to the Seimas for approval.

This Law establishes the modalities of: (a) setting up, keeping and liquidation of the state registers (cadastre); (b) setting up the system of the state registers and the basic principles of interaction thereof; and (c) the rights and the duties of the leading institutions as regards keeping the state registers. The object of recording in the state registers shall be inter alia territory (land) and natural resources. One on the main registers shall be the register of immovable property.
Law relative to Taxes on State Natural Resources (No. I-1163)
The objective of this Law is to increase the responsibility of users of natural resources (not defined) for the effective and economical utilization of the national resources which are at their disposal, and to compensate the amount spent by the State on the investigation of natural resources and on the measures implemented for the preservation of the amount and quality thereof. The Department of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Lithuania shall control the validity of tax returns.
Law on Land Tax (No. I-2675).
This Act makes provision for the taxation of ownership of private land. The annual rate of land tax shall be one and a half percent of the "cost" (not defined) of the land. In the case of forest land the value of trees shall not be included. Tax reliefs for land in protective forest belts and in natural monuments, as well as for land used for purposes of nature protection, shall be established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in coordination with the Department of Environmental Protection.

Land shall be divided according to its use into land used for agricultural purposes and non-agricultural land. Land owners and land users (natural and legal persons) using land on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, which has been allotted to them by State bodies or which they possess by right of ownership, shall be liable to land taxation.
