This toolkit covers topics such as: the impact of climate change on African agriculture and food systems; how we can transform African agriculture and food systems for a more sustainable and climate resilient future; the important national, regional, continental, and global initiatives to promote climate-smart agriculture, in Africa and worldwide; how to investigate and report key developments
A growing urban population and dietary changes increased wheat import bills in Africa to 9% per year. Though wheat production in the continent has been increasing over the past decades, to varying degrees depending on regions, this has not been commensurate with the rapidly increasing demand for wheat. Rice production is an integral commodity to global food security, but it also contributes considerably to greenhouse
gas emissions (GHG). There are a variety of options to mitigate GHG emissions from paddy rice production but the
impacts and opportunities to finance such activities are not well-known or well-understood for global investors, and
The CGIAR Initiative on Low-Emission Food Systems focuses on reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while transforming food systems.
