The Republic of Sudan : Country Gender Profile
The "Republic of Sudan: Country Gender Profile" report by the Japan International Cooperation Agency provides a comprehensive analysis of the socio-economic conditions of women in Sudan, who make up approximately 50% of the country's population. Despite their significant contribution to society, women in Sudan remain marginalized and underrepresented in economic, social, and political spheres. The report explores various sectors including health, education, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and economic activities, as well as the conditions of war/conflict victims, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The report further examines the government's policies, laws, and regulations concerning gender and women. It highlights the disparity between the male and female population, which may be attributed to factors such as "brain drain", migration, or war-related male depletion. The study also reveals that the rural population constitutes about 62.4% of the total population, which could have implications for land governance. The report, however, does not guarantee the accuracy of the data and disclaims responsibility for any consequences of their use.
