This Law regulates basic legal relations in the sphere of setting up Kolkhida protected areas and management thereof, including management of land areas, forested areas, waterbodies and objects of cultural heritage. The scope of the law shall be as follows: (a) to ensure setting up Kolkhida protected areas; (b) regulation of the management mechanism of protected areas; (c) assistance in protection and restoration of natural ecosystems and wetlands; (d) ensure protection and conservation of biological diversity and, in particular, protected and endangered animal and plant species; and (e) promotion of sustainable development and tourism, educational and scientific research programs.
