This Law provides for the preservation of historical and cultural artefacts in Afghanistan. All movable and immovable historical and cultural artefacts and heritage items are the property of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.The Law provides for the establishment of an Archaeology Committee to evaluate and perform research on historical and cultural artefacts. Provisions are also made for the protection of historical and cultural sites.The Law further provides for: archaeology excavations; establishment of museums; internal and international trade of historical and cultural artefacts; offences and penalties; etc.
