This video presents an overview of the first day of the 2024 GIZ Knowledge Exchange Workshop: Anchoring Practitioners' Experience in Responsible Land Governance Systems in Senegal.
Organized by three projects, including two global programs and one bilateral program in Senegal, in partnership with German cooperation, the event is part of a broader effort mandated by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Key topics include land tenure security, land conflicts, and political advisory services aimed at strengthening legislative frameworks. The workshop, which brings together around 120 participants from 17 countries — including state partners, civil society, and researchers — focuses on mutual learning and the exchange of innovative approaches developed over the years. Participants aim to identify how these innovations can be integrated into institutions for scaling up and sustaining land governance efforts. Specific country examples, such as Madagascar, Benin, Uganda, and Ethiopia, highlight how land tenure security can be addressed, fostering cross-country learning and improvement of approaches for broader application.
