This workshop report is about climate change, gender and livelihoods among fisher communities in the Lake Victoria Zone Region in Kenya. The purpose of the workshop was to share and validate the findings of the scoping study carried out by WorldFish from March to July, 2023.

The objective of this report is to select the main value chains with potential to integrate the agroecological principles in the Northwest of Tunisia. A descriptive analysis on the two governorates chosen was first made, then 4 focus group discussions were organized with local farmers associations.

We present an application of the method to the Thoria watershed in India. We analyze land cover changes in the Thoria watershed between the years 2000, 2020 and future scenarios, and subsequently map the above-ground carbon stock using the InVEST model along with remotely sensed data.

The CGIAR Initiative on Nature-Positive Solutions in Burkina Faso works in the provinces of Bazèga, Boulkiemdé, Kadiogo and Oubritenga.

In Kenya, NATURE+ unites people to solve shared challenges in food and natural systems. Farmers are putting their land and expertise together to tap into economies of scale and restore natural landscapes and agricultural productivity. Scientists and innovators are improving community seedbanks, restoring land with native trees, and creating value-added products – including from rural waste.

NATURE+ works in the north western Vietnamese provinces of Lao Cai and Son La. Known for their hilly terrain, terraced rice fields and diverse ethnic groups, these provinces have high potential for increased food production. But sustainability, nutrition, health, conservation of nature and traditional knowledge are sometimes overlooked.

Identification of the data gaps can help determine the appropriate methods to improve aquaculture farm operation, production and market access, as well as community capacity. The data gaps can be addressed by
creating a national aquaculture database in collaboration with various stakeholders including government bodies, research institutes, private entities, and aquaculture farmers.

Sheep fattening is a practice that involves feeding and managing sheep for a specific time to increase their weight and improve their quality of meat production. In Ethiopia, particularly in rural areas, sheep fattening is a popular business venture among small-scale farmers. It provides an opportunity for farmers to generate income and improve their livelihoods.

Small ruminant community-based breeding refers to a breeding program managed and implemented by business-oriented livestock keepers, aiming to improve the genetic potential of their small ruminant populations. The community-based breeding program is well suited for intensive market-oriented farming and requires a small breeding flock.

The Mekong Delta is a vast region that is crucial for providing food to millions of people. However, climate change and human activities are causing water scarcity, floods and soil salinization, which are a threat to food security and livelihoods.

Efficient water resources management is essential for the sustainable development of nations, and large dams are an important tool for achieving this endeavor. Here, we present an integrated approach to simulating the impacts of large dams, integrating river systems infrastructure, hydrodynamic, and economywide models.

Traditional wet markets are the main source of fresh food and the largest source of daily nutrient intake for citizens of Hanoi. Nevertheless, due to the lack of traceability and sales registration systems, food flows within these markets remain largely invisible. This makes it challenging to assess the impact of shocks, such as pandemics, on these markets.
