Rwanda smallholder agriculture commercialization survey: Overview using selected categorical variables

This report provides a comprehensive statistical overview of agricultural household data collected by IFPRI from a smallholder commercialization survey in late 2022. Sampled to be representative to the provincial level, ten households were surveyed in 202 villages for a total of 2,020 households interviewed. The survey covers a wide range of topics including household demographics, agricultural farm holdings, input use, crop choice, levels of commercialization and other non-farm sources of income.

Ecuador's Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition is using the Collect Earth Online tool to improve forest monitoring data accuracy

Ecuador’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) is using a Collect Earth Online through a service co-developed with EcoCiencia and SERVIR-Amazonia (an Alliance – led regional program) to improve forest monitoring data accuracy in the Ecuadorian Amazon and to validate National Monitoring System maps and land cover estimates. MAATE continues to improve the monitoring of forest degradation and to support the provinces and indigenous forest- dependent groups to use the data for decision making.

AICCRA Zambia – Affordability study with farmers using the CSA/CIS innovations report

The objective of the study was to understand end-users' capacity and willingness to purchase products and services scaled through the AICCRA Zambia CSA/CIS bundles. A total of 61 farmers were interviewed through in-person visits (3 for the Solar bundle, 15 for the Aquaculture bundle, 29 for the Seeds bundle, 14 for the Integrated Livestock/Legume bundle). Farmers were interviewed in Central Province (Chibombo, Kapiri Mposhi), Luapula Province (Mansa), and Eastern Province (Chipata, Chipangali, Nyimba).

The status of knowledge, attitudes, and practice in the cultivation and usage of improved forages in Kenya and Uganda

There is a scarcity of published literature about farmers’ level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding improved forage varieties in East Africa, particularly among the populations where development projects have been and continue to be implemented. This study was carried out to address this knowledge gap and strengthen future scaling activities. We rely on cross-sectional data with a sample of 353 respondents equally drawn from treatment and control areas across 3 districts in Kenya and Uganda respectively.

Assessing policy options for sustainable water use in India’s cereal production system

As farming is highly dependent on water availability, rapidly receding water levels require urgent measures to manage withdrawals. Nonclassical measurement error and farmers’ response to information treatment

This paper reports on a randomized experiment conducted among Malawian agricultural households to study nonclassical measurement error (NCME) in self-reported plot area, and farmers' responses to new information — the objective plot area measure — subsequently provided to them. Farmers' pre-treatment self-reported plot areas exhibit considerable NCME. Most of the measurement error follows a regression-to-mean pattern with respect to plot area, and another 18 percent arises from asymmetric rounding to half acre increments.
