This Regional Law establishes plenary powers and jurisdictional competence of state bodies and local government in the sphere of land relations. Regional Government shall be responsible for management of public land plots and also of land plots with undelimited ownership, expropriation of land for public needs, application of public servitude and application to land areas the status of protected areas.

The Land Parcel Identification System is the national identification system of exclusive state property, to be used in administrative procedures of area payments.

This Circular adopts the Manual on Land Survey Procedures. These Rules provide for the registration of an entry of compliance with a property adjustment order, pursuant to section 9 of the Family Law Act 1995 or section 14 of the Family Law (Divorce) Act 1996 as amended by sections 74 and 75 of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2008. An application for cancellation of a Property Adjustment Order pursuant to section 9 of the Family Law Act 1995 or section 14 of the Family Law (Divorce) Act 1996 may be made in Form 13, 14 or 15 in the Schedule of Forms to these Rules.

This Law consisting of 65 articles divided in IV Parts and 10 Annexes aims at protecting the environment (land, air and water) from pollution. To achieve the objective the Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) is established for the protection and promotion of the environment.

The objects of the Act are (a) to simplify the title to land; (b) to facilitate dealings with land; (c) to secure indefeasibility of title to registered proprietors except in certain cases specified in this Act; (d) to facilitate access to information about administrative interests and other information in respect of land; and (e) to facilitate the collection and disposal of information in relation to land or to the buying or selling of land.

This Act provides for the public control on land valuers and their practice and for this purpose establishes the Valuers Board and the Valuers Association of Solomon Islands. The Board shall, among other things, formulate, monitor and review policies relating to the practice of land valuation, register land valuers and regulate and control the practice of registered valuers. The Board may request the Minister to establish a valuers disciplinary committee to which complaints lodged to the Board shall be referred. Appeal against decisions of the Board may be had with the Minister.

This Act provides rules relative to the exploration for and the exploitation of mineral resources and related matters such as the grant of mineral rights and (restriction of) rights on the surface, protection of the environment and the resolution of disputes. No grant of rights in minerals shall be valid unless granted in accordance with this Act. The Minister may designate an Inspector of Mines and Minerals.
