Draft African land policy centre steering committee minutes of the meeting held on 13 November 2017

The African land policy center (ALPC) steering committee adopted the agenda of the meeting with the suggested modification. And a presentation of progress made in implementing the decisions of previous steering committee meetings. The presentation is: The joint working group on land (JWGL) planned to deliberate on the reorganization of the ALPC steering committee membership, taking into account the ALPC strategic plan, and would table it for a decision from the steering committee. The secretariat provided updates on the different decisions associated with funding gaps and related actions including on progress made in exploring avenues for sustainable funding of ALPC. The secretariat provided updates on the ongoing discussion with the NEPAD program coordinating agency (NPCA) and the AUC to finalize the joint ALPCNPCA program to support the AU agenda on land. The secretariat provided brief updates on progress made in organizing the conference on land policy in Africa (CLPA) 2017. The secretariat updated the committee on the progress made in finalizing the study on land, conflict and ethnicity. And finally, the secretariat reported that the study on customary land rights was deferred until 2018.
