This Act makes provision for various matters relating to Agricultural and Pastoral Societies, being incorporated associations of 50 persons or more for the purposes of promotion and enhancement of agricultural activities (objects of a society are outlined in section 10). Various provisions concern rights of societies with respect to land. If any Crown lands are set apart and reserved for the purposes of any society, the Governor-General may grant such lands or any part thereof to the society. A society may let on lease any portion of the lands so granted (sect. 6). A society may purchase or otherwise acquire any freehold or leasehold lands in accordance with section 8.
