Impact of Land Tenure Security Perception on Tree Planting Investment in Vietnam

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

With over 14 million hectares allocated, Vietnam’s forest and forestland allocation has been one of the largest natural resource decentralization programs in the developing world over the last three decades. Given this remarkable achievement, critics are concerned about the low rates of household tree planting investment and question the roles and effects of land institutions on investment.

Conflict Resolution between Multi-Level Government and Farmers in Land Expropriation Based on Institutional Credibility Theory: Empirical Evidence from Shandong Province, China

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
China

Land expropriation has always been a hot spot of social conflicts. The land expropriation policy of Merging Villages and Living Together (MVLT) in rural areas has intensified conflicts due to insufficient financial compensation and “demolishing old houses before building new ones”.

Scrutinizing Urbanization in Kathmandu Using Google Earth Engine Together with Proximity-Based Scenario Modelling

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Nepal

‘Urbanization’ refers to the expansion of built-up areas caused by several factors. This study focuses on the urbanization process in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Supervised classification was conducted in Google Earth Engine by using Landsat data for years 2001, 2011 and 2021. The random forest classifier with 250 trees was used for classification to generate land-cover map.

Insights into the Effects of Study Area Size and Soil Sampling Density in the Prediction of Soil Organic Carbon by Vis-NIR Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy in Two Forest Areas

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Italy

Sustainable forest land management requires measuring and monitoring soil organic carbon. Visible and near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (Vis-NIR, 350–2500 nm), although it has become an important method for predicting soil organic carbon (SOC), requires further studies and methods of analysis to realize its full potential.

Land Use and Landscape Characteristics Are Associated with Core Forest Patches in Ghana

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Ghana

Land uses and terrain characteristics would likely influence the types and spatial arrangements of forest patches, and generally, forest fragmentation. Whereas prior research has focused mainly on direct land use-induced forest fragmentation, this study models the relationship between the spatial distribution of core forest patches, land uses, and terrain variables.

Impacts of Land Use Types, Soil Properties, and Topography on Baseflow Recharge and Prediction in an Agricultural Watershed

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

Baseflow is an essential component of runoff, which is the dominant water resource for the dry season. To better manage water resources, it is vital to investigate the links between the multiple influencing factors and the baseflow for better prediction in light of global changes.

Simulation and Analysis of Land-Use Change Based on the PLUS Model in the Fuxian Lake Basin (Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, China)

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

It is essential to study the characteristics of land use change in the Fuxian Lake basin, a plateau lake in Yunnan Province, and to predict the basin’s future trend of land use change for sustaining the key carriers of current national major strategies such as ecological civilization, green development, and rural revitalization.

Land Use Transition and Its Ecosystem Resilience Response in China during 1990–2020

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
China

Land use transition and its eco-environmental effects are important research topics. Its essence is the process that human activities exert interference to the ecological environment in the process of social and economic development, and the ecosystem resists interference and recovers and adapts to interference.

Estimation of Runoff and Sediment Yield in Response to Temporal Land Cover Change in Kentucky, USA

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

Land cover change is prevalent in the eastern Kentucky Appalachian region, mainly due to increased surface mining activities. This study explored the potential change in land cover and its relationship with stream discharge and sediment yield in a watershed of the Cumberland River near Harlan, Kentucky, between 2001 and 2016, using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT).

Spatio-Temporal Variation of the Ecosystem Service Value in Qilian Mountain National Park (Gansu Area) Based on Land Use

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

The value of ecosystem services and service capabilities continue to improve, and the way to form a path of resource industrialization development has become one of the important directions of sustainable development.

Ecosystem Service Trade-Offs and Spatial Pattern Optimisation under Different Land Use Scenarios: A Case Study in Guanzhong Region, China

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
Global

Understanding the complex interactions (i.e., trade-offs and synergies) among ecosystem services (ESs) and exploring land use optimisation are important to realize regional ecological governance and sustainable development. This study examined Guanzhong Region, Shaanxi Province, as the research object.

Seasonal Variations of Dissolved Organic Matter in Urban Rivers of Northern China

LandLibrary Resource
Peer-reviewed publication
Décembre, 2022
China

Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is ubiquitously present in aquatic environments, playing an important role in the global carbon cycle and water quality. It is necessary to reveal the potential sources and explore spatiotemporal variation of DOM in rivers, especially in urban zones impacted by human activities.
