Describes the monitoring Programme carried out by ILCA covering phase II of the Kenya Livestock Development Project, and the six components included. Also describes a two-tiered monitoring system consisting of intensive studies of carefully selected samples and an extensive data collection network concentrating on key indicators.

The animal science systems group at Texas A & M University (TAMU) has developed a computer based beef cattle production model for use in tropical countries. This model can be used to predict animal and herd productivity under a variety of management regions in diverse environments. Economic analyses can then be made, based on these predictions.

Proceedings of the seminar on evaluation and mapping of tropical African rangelands, particular categories of rangeland survey and evaluation, review of experiences; site development, parameters and methods; sampling and data processing, cartography, with recommendations and guidelines for the future.

Recommendations for preservation and improvement of sub-Saharan rangelands, and for training people in range management and animal production.

This Act amends the Land Husbandry Act 1969: in section 3 (2) (b) by deleting the words "of section 93 of the Constitution" and substituting the following therefor "of section 4 of the Land Act 1973"; in section 4 relative to consultation of local authorities by the Minister when making of Regulations in regard to a particular agricultural area; and by deleting section 5.
