Qatar joined FAO in 1971. Over the years, FAO assistance has aimed to improve the country’s management and conservation of natural resources, including technological and institutional development to enable sustainable increases in agricultural and fisheries productivity. The production of safe and nutritious food, together with support to rural livelihoods have also been key features of cooperation.

La FAO opera en el Perú desde 1956, apoyando al país en la erradicación del hambre y la malnutrición, la eliminación de la pobreza, el establecimiento de sistemas agroalimentarios inclusivos y el respaldo de una utilización sostenible de los recursos naturales. Más recientemente, las líneas de acción se han centrado en el apoyo institucional a la alimentación escolar y agricultura familiar, la implementación de mecanismos de adaptación al cambio climático y el fomento de la Cooperación Sur-Sur.

The main goal of this project that FAO will propose in Afghanistan is to strengthen national capacity to facilitate monitoring, analysis and interpretation of agriculture and natural resources information combined with information generated from remote sensing for sustainable agricultural land use planning and management.

Since 1993, FAO has played an active role in supporting Croatia’s national development plans and projects aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and improving the country’s food security. Technical assistance has focused on development of Croatia’s agriculture sector with the aim of improving rural livelihoods, increasing productivity and contributing to sustainable growth of the economy.

Throughout history, the forests have been valued for the multiplicity of products and benefits that they provide, both for subsistence and for trade: foods, medicines, spices, resins, gums, latexes, wildlife, fuelwood, and of course timber and other wood products. The literature is rich with examples of international trade in forest products, many dating back thousands of years. Significantly, in most cases the products sought by traders were resins, oils, spices, and much less frequently timber.

Ce numéro de Nature & Faune met le focus sur « La place de la jeunesse africaine dans l’agriculture, les ressources naturelles et le développement rural ». El presente informe es una versión reducida de “World agriculture: towards 2015/2030”, la última evaluación realizada por la FAO de las perspectivas a largo plazo del abastecimiento de alimentos, la nutrición y la agricultura. En él se resumen las proyecciones, se resaltan los mensajes y se presentan para el público en general. Las proyecciones abarcan la oferta y la demanda de los principales productos agropecuarios y los sectores agrícola, forestal y pesquero.

This report is a shorter version of World agriculture: towards 2015/2030, FAO's latest assessment of the long-term outlook for the world's food supplies, nutrition and agriculture. It summarizes the projections, distills the messages and presents them for the generalist. The projections cover supply and demand for the major agricultural commodities and sectors, including fisheries and forestry. This analysis forms the basis for a more detailed examination of other factors, such as nutrition and undernourishment, and the implications for international trade.
