Joyce is a community development professional with a focus on natural resource and gender issues in Tanzania. She joined the Arusha based NGO, Haki Madini, in 2018 as Gender and Mining Program Officer. Joyce is passionate about building the capacity of poor communities to benefit from mineral resources, and securing both the land rights and livelihoods of women in Tanzania. She acts as a core team member on a multi-country strategic research project in support of women’s land rights (WOLTS) where her responsibilities include providing strategic inputs on the design of Tanzania fieldwork. She joined the WOLTS team during a phase of participatory fieldwork in Tanzania leading focus group discussions and interviews. More recently, Joyce has played a central role in the WOLTS ‘champions’ training initiative, where she has facilitated sessions focused on promoting gender equality in Maasai communities.
