Spatial Efficiency and Socioeconomic Efficiency in Urban Land Policy and Value Capturing: Two Sides of the Same Coin?

    Peer-reviewed publication
    декабря, 2021
    Norway
    Belgium

Land policies are commonly used to contribute to the implementation of the public policy of land-use planning (or spatial planning). In this sense, a spatially efficient land policy must allow the planning systems to achieve the land uses promoted by strategic planning. In addition to their role in land-use planning, land policies also contribute to public finance policies. From this perspective, a socioeconomically efficient land policy must allow public authorities to capture land value.

Extraction of Rural Residential Land from Very-High Resolution UAV Images Using a Novel Semantic Segmentation Framework

    Peer-reviewed publication
    декабря, 2021
    China

Accurate recognition and extraction of rural residential land (RRL) is significant for scientific planning, utilization, and management of rural land. Very-High Resolution (VHR) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images and deep learning techniques can provide data and methodological support for the target. However, RRL, as a complex land use assemblage, exhibits features of different scales under VHR images, as well as the presence of complex impervious layers and backgrounds such as natural surfaces and tree shadows in rural areas.

Research on Attention Allocation of Land Policy System Reform: A Comparative Analysis Based on Central No. 1 Documents of China

    Peer-reviewed publication
    декабря, 2021
    China

Dealing with relationships on farmland is one of the most important issues in China. Since its reform and opening up, the policies of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on “agriculture, rural areas, and farmers” have been embodied in the Central No. 1 document. The documents, which represent the purpose of China, reveal the strategic direction and development ideas of the state. Based on Central No.

Characteristics of Land Use Change in China before and after 2000

    Peer-reviewed publication
    декабря, 2021
    China

China, with notable population blooming and economic development in the last decades, has experienced profound land-use changes, which, in turn, dramatically impacted the regional, even global and environment system. However, characteristics of land-use changes in China have not yet been well addressed, especially around the year 2000 when a series of land policies were put forward, such as the project of “returning farmland to forest”.

Analyzing Various Factors Affecting Farmers’ Willingness to Adopt Soil Erosion Control Measures in the Sebeya Catchment, Rwanda

    Peer-reviewed publication
    декабря, 2021
    Rwanda

Soil erosion is a worldwide environmental problem leading to low agricultural productivity and water quality degradation. Improving soil erosion control measures is essential. This study reports the results of a survey of 75 farmers, using structured interviews, field observations, and focus groups to analyze farmers’ perceptions concerning current and future efforts to adopt Soil Erosion Control (SEC) measures in the Sebeya catchment located in the Western Province of Rwanda.
