As a social scientist specializing in inequality issues and nature conservation, I work from a deep-seated motivation to apply my academic knowledge for practical applications and social change. My research interests, which focus on political ecology, sustainability, tourism, and the complex dynamics of nature conservation, converge in my fieldwork in southern Africa and Indonesia with Indigenous and local groups. With a background in both academic research and practical experience in civil society - as a development worker in Namibia and as a Large Grants Fundraiser - I am convinced of the importance of connecting science to the realities of communities and ecosystems. In my current position as Associate Professor at Wageningen University, I am involved in several international projects. I aim to translate my expertise into concrete solutions that are both locally relevant and contribute to structural, global challenges. See further: stasjakoot.com
