I am a qualitative social scientist examining the relationships between humans and nature. I am particularly interested in the role scientific and other forms of knowledge play in these relationships. My current project examines the changing perceptions of and engagements with soil in conventional farming in England, and the role soil science may play in creating soil care in agriculture (soilwise.wordpress.com). I am currently a Research Felllow at the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield, and the person behind the Soil Care Network (soilcarenetwork.com) - an interdisciplinary research network on soil in society issues. My previous research concerned public participation in the science behind renewable energy technologies, and the role of knowledge and ethics in organic agriculture.
