He is a Land expert currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Agricultural Economics specializing on land as a critical factor of production in farmer entrepreneurship for empowerment, Kenyatta University, Master of Science (Msc) in Agricultural Economics THESIS: Effects of Land Tenure Status on Land Productivity and Sustainable Livelihood in the Traditional Pastoral areas of Kenya: A case Study of Narok District and a BSc. in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
He has over 20 years Professional working experience in different capacities for different organizations as Policy & Research Analyst, Agricultural Economist, Agricultural Officer and Market Advisory Services Specialist in farmers Organization, Government, various Institutions as well as River Basin Development Authorities. He has a wealth of knowledge in community development, multi-stakeholders lobby and advocacy strategies (engagement, consultation, participation and representation) that foster the interests of farmers by stimulating beneficial changes in the dialogue process. He is a member of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Land Sector Board and actively contributing to various Technical Working Group in Ministry of lands representing farmers' interests in the National Land reforms process.
Kateiya has skills in Ex-ante and post policy analysis, five steps of effective advocacy research for lobby, profiling of farmers organizations and associations, project planning, identification and proposal writing, Leadership for successful performance management, Total Quality Management, Performance Appraisal System, Result Base Management-Rapid Results Initiative (RRI), Result Base Monitoring System, Optimizing the performance of Producers' organizations as well as Qualitative and Quantitative analytical research.
