This Act imposes a duty on local authorities to cause a valuation to be made of every rateable property within the area of the local authority in respect of which a rate on the value of land is imposed. This shall be done at least once in every five years or such longer period as the Minister may approve. The values of the valuation shall be entered in a valuation roll.This Act shall apply to any area of a local authority in respect of which any rate on the valuation of land, other than a rate on the annual value of agricultural land, in the area has been imposed by or under any Law. The Act regulates activities of valuers, defines ownership of land, prescribes procedures of valuation and provides for the appointment of a valuation court by local authorities and procedures of objections with the court in respect of decisions regarding inclusion or exclusion of a property in a draft valuation roll. No valuation shall be made of land in National Parks and National Reserves within the meaning of the Wildlife (Conservation and Management) Act and other specified land.
