The session Energy and Climate Justice: A Community aimed to cover discussions onglobal trends around renewable energy and climate finance by adopting a nexus approach connecting land tenure, community, and justice. The following aspects were drawn from comparative experiences from global south reflected on land conflicts and contestations in the context of mega solar park projects, community stewardship as a potential carbon solution, netzero triggered land use changes for carbon offset and implications on community & commons.

The National Assembly (NA) on June 24 adopted the Forest and Nature Conservation Bill of Bhutan 2021 with 38 ‘Yes’, and two “ No” votes and two abstained.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 5 – The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) has secured 29,035 acres of land as habitat for wildlife in Amboseli, in the south of Kenya.

The agreement signed by Daniel Leturesh the Chairman of the Olgulului Ololarashi Group Ranch (OOGR) and Azzedine Downes, President and CEO, IFAW, will see 3,598 landowners benefit from annual lease fees and eventually eco-tourism revenue once the land is legally registered as a wildlife conservancy.
