Focus on Land in Africa (FOLA) is an educational resource for development practitioners and policy makers that explores how land and natural resource rights affect, and are effected by, development in Africa.  Through raising awareness of these issues, FOLA aims to elevate land and natural resource rights as an urgent priority for development in Africa. 


Women for Women International

Our Mission


In countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community, and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and community.


Pro-femme Twese Hamwe

Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe is an umbrella organisation working for the advancement of women, peace, and development in Rwanda. Since the 1994 genocide, the coalition has grown to include 58 member associations. Their efforts are geared toward what they define as three aspects of development:

  • Integrated development: political, economic, social and cultural development.
  • Durable development: reconciliation and peace.
  • Equitable development: justice and the eradication of all discrimination

Resource Equity is a women-run and women-centered nonprofit organization that focuses exclusively on legal issues specific to gender equity in land and natural resources around the world.

Oxfam GB

Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. In just 15 years, extreme poverty has been halved. 15 more years and we can end it for good.

To spread that change and make it last, political solutions are also needed to tackle the root causes of poverty and create societies where empowered individuals can thrive.

We will always act, we will speak out, and we won't live with poverty.

Pa-O Youth Organization

PYO

The Pa-O Youth Organization (PYO) was set up on 4th December, 1998 by monks, women and youth who came from various places in the Pa-O areas in Burma. PYO is a member of the Students and Youth Congress of Burma (SYCB) and the Nationalities Youth Forum (NYForum). It is a non-violent independent youth organization striving for peace, justice and democracy in Burma.

 

The main aims of PYO are:

1. To establish a new society based on the principles of peace and justice.

Cambodian Committee for Women

CAMBOW

The Cambodian Committee for Women (CAMBOW) is a coalition of 35 NGOs and networks dedicated to the advancement of women and children.

CAMBOW is a non-partisan network of Cambodian NGOs that focus primarily on advancing the cause of women. CAMBOW was formally established in 2000 and registered with the Cambodian Ministry of Interior on 29 March 2001 (No 327). It currently consists of 35 members.

To support the voices of these women against the wrong use of their communities resources, including making sure that they are involved in the decision making process through their organization and to press for equal rights and ownership to natural resources and forest in a way that it will reduce the poor living conditions of these women and the idea of looking down upon them.

Community Self-Reliance Centre

CSRC

Founded in 1993, Community Self-Reliance Centre (CSRC) has been at the forefront of land and agrarian rights campaign in Nepal. CSRC educates and organizes people who are deprived of their basic rights to land and empowers them to lead free, secure and dignified lives. Our programmes have focused on strengthening community organizations, developing human rights defenders, improving livelihoods and promoting land and agrarian reform on behalf of the land-poor farmers.
