Regional Law No. 47-ZRH “On delimitation of plenary powers between state bodies in the sphere of land relations”.

This Regional Law delimits plenary powers between state bodies in the sphere of land relations. Authorized regional state body in the sphere of land relations shall carry out the following plenary powers: (a) management of public land; (b) participation in implementation of state land policy; (c) decision-making related to purchase of land for public purposes; (d) imposition of use restrictions on land; (e) establishment of the amount of land charges and land lease fees; (f) establishment of the modalities of land survey; and (g) decision-making related to expropriation of land.

This Agricultural Sector Policy Framework (ASPF) is a sectoral policy framework of the Republic of South Sudan applicable to the period of 2012-2017. This Law, consisting of 8 Chapters establishes reform, settlement and colonization of vacant lands belonging to the State of Piauí. The Institute for Reform and Land Regularization - INTERPI is the competent body for the management and administration of land policy in the State of Piauí, in accordance with State Law No. 3.783 of 16 December 1980. The INTERPI may create support offices inside the State, called Land Governance Office aiming to accelerate the fulfillment of its objectives. Land regularization includes rural and urban public land of the State of Piauí.

Contracts affecting property rights of land and for the registration of these contracts in the cadastre must be laid down by a legal counsel on sheets of paper bearing the requisites foreseen in Article 2. Such contracts shall be registered with the competent district land office and shall be kept in a safe place by the legal counsel.

The Decree provides the allotment of state-owned land destined to planting of perennial trees, seasonal crops and forestation, plus the water surface required for aquaculture farming to individuals, households and organizations which shall invest in the resulting production. All ungranted land is declared to be public land. Public land shall be at disposition and control of the Governor. The Governor in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him by this Ordinance in respect to any land shall have regard to the native laws and customs existing in the district in which such land is situated. It shall be lawful for the Governor: (a) to grant rights of occupancy to natives and non-natives; (b) To demand a rental for the use of any public lands granted to any native or non-native; (c) To revise the said rental at intervals of more than thirty-three years.
